Packet pick-up on race day started at 6:30 am. I got ready and arrived around that time. I parked my car in the parking lot across from Pei Wei and walked over to the Brea Mall North parking structure. There I picked up my bib and race shirt. Once again, my friend Dexter was there volunteering. The t-shirt ran a little bit small.

After a brief conversation with my friend, I used one of the portapotties before walking back to my car to relax a bit before the start of the race at 8 am.
My breathing got out of control going up Associated Rd. Eventually I decided it would be best to take a walk break to recover a little bit. A couple of runners that passed me gave me some words of encouragement. I tried to resume running as I got on Lambert Rd, but the course was still climbing. I had to wait until I got to the downhill on Kraemer Blvd before I was able to start running well again. I made up enough time to beat my previous time by 25 seconds.
Finish: 38:10

After crossing the finish line and getting my finisher medal, I remembered that I had forgotten to get my goodie tote bag. I hurried over to the parking structure to see if I could still pick one up. The volunteers were already packing up when I got there, but they were able to give me one. Normally I wouldn't care about a tote bag, but I kind of needed it for the post-race food sampling.Relive 'Brea 8k'

Once again, the post-race food spread among the vendors was as good as advertised. I actually didn't get to all of the booths, but it was way more food than I should have consumed after only running about 5 miles. The one item that stood out the most was the poké from Bristol Farms.
Urban Plates: Chocolate Chip Cookie
Red Robin: Freckled Lemonade
Bristol Farms: Poké
Starbucks: Iced Tea
Mendocino Farms: Curried Couscous
Mendocino Farms: Chicken MBP
Dickey's Barbecue Pit: Cheddar Jalapeño Sausage
