I came across my old race reports that I used to email to my friends before I started this blog.
2006:
Yesterday I ran the Disneyland Inaugural Half Marathon! I know there are those that think Disney is one of the evil empires (other one being George Steinbrenner and his Yankees), but it was definitely the Happiest Race on Earth! Sure they charged us an arm and a leg, but it was by far the best race that I've run to date. It was only a half marathon and the cost was more than some of the full marathons that I've run. I was greeted by Capt. Jack Sparrow, Lilo & Stitch, Sully, Mr. Incredible, Buzz Lightyear, etc etc. during the race. There were a few people in the race that dressed up as pirates. I finished in 2:02:37, a new personal record at a half marathon. I got a huge gold finisher's medal that only a brotha' should wear! I'm getting closer to breaking 2hrs. Also starting to notice that the crowd around me look a lot more serious than when I was running them slower. Now it's back to training and figuring out how to shave off a couple of minutes. Hope everyone is doing well!

2007:
So what does a guy do when he turns another year older? How about run a half marathon in almost 90 degree weather? :) Well 2 days after turning 33, under red-flag heat alert, I ran the Disneyland half marathon. Wouldn't miss it since it is the Happiest Race on Earth (so it says on the huge medal that they give you at the finish line)! With fireworks and an appearance by Mickey, Minnie, and friends, the race started at 6am and the weather had already gone into the 80's. The course remained the same as last year's. Again we got to run through Disneyland, California Adventure, and also along the warning track at Anaheim stadium as we watched the cleaning crew hose off the bleachers to get rid of those pesky roaches and rats! But anyways, I finished in 2:06:38. I did not break any personal records, but it was again one of the better races that I've run. Hopefully it won't be as hot next year. If you want to join me next year, let me know and I'll keep you informed on when to sign up. This race sold out early like hotcakes! If you're ever going to do one half marathon in your lifetime, this is the one that you should run (or walk). And no, I am not an employee of Disney or one of their affiliated companies. :)
Have a great day and motor on!
2008:
Enough about work. :) I ran the Disneyland half marathon this morning. I'm continuing to improve. I finished it in 1:55:07, which was a new PR. I will probably not race during September, but in October I will be starting my quest to run 1 marathon every month for the next 4 months. In December I'll be running the Honolulu marathon. I keep joking about not coming back and being a cabana boy... that's starting to sound like a good idea. :)
